INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER 786 ENGINE
The International Harvester 786 tractor is powered by a robust 5.9L 6-cylinder diesel engine, offering excellent torque and fuel efficiency for demanding agricultural tasks. A key advantage is its high hydraulic flow capacity, facilitating effective implement operation. However, challenges may arise in parts availability and engine diagnostics due to its vintage status, which could impact uptime in critical farming scenarios.

TRANSMISSION
The International Harvester 786 tractor features a Torque Amplifier (TA) that allows for shifting into a lower speed without clutch engagement, enhancing productivity during varied load conditions. With 16 forward and 8 reverse gears, it offers versatile speed control, although transmission shifts must be performed while stationary, which may impact operational efficiency in time-sensitive tasks. An oil capacity of 90 quarts (85.2L) with IH Hy-Tran ensures optimal hydraulic performance, crucial for maintaining the integrity of the transmission system.

Description |
The tractor must be stopped to shift the transmission (except the TA). The right-most console lever selects range (high, low, or reverse) and the left lever selects one of four gears. The Torque Amplifier (TA) is on the left side of the instrument panel and may be shifted without the clutch. Pulling back engages the TA, reducing the ground speed. Pushing the lever forward puts the transmission in direct drive (DD) mode. |

INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER 786 TIRES
The International Harvester 786, equipped with Ag front tires (9.5L-15) and Ag rear tires (18.4-34), offers excellent traction and stability for diverse agricultural tasks. The 2WD configuration provides simplicity and lower maintenance costs, but may limit performance in uneven terrain or muddy conditions compared to a 4WD system. Ideal for moderate fieldwork, this tractor is well-suited for tasks like plowing and tilling, where efficiency in power delivery is beneficial.

DIMENSIONS & TIRES
The International Harvester 786 features a 101-inch wheelbase, which provides enhanced stability during field operations and transport. Weighing between 10,600 to 11,590 pounds, it offers considerable traction and ground engagement, making it suitable for heavy-duty tasks like tillage or hauling. However, the tire configuration—9.5L-15 in the front and 18.4-34 in the rear—may necessitate careful consideration for adaptability in varying soil conditions and crop types, especially in wetter environments where wider rear tires can improve flotation.
